Two Poems

How wise they are in the moon's time,

yessing the world's dumb gulp of their cries.

What art of tireless approval and outrage –

unraveling songs of dismay.

Winds and clouds and lightning race

through the rooms of their legends,

like blind dreams perusing ages

for lost nursing rhymes,

lost somewhere in glooming beasthood –

where I was lost, where you were lost –

and never came back...

from Time is the Rider
